Senior swim duo honored
HUNTLEY — Two Huntley High School senior boys swimmers, Luke Hackenmack and Josh Tungot gained recognition during a winter sports senior night. The event was held along with girls basketball senior night Jan. 31.
“Hackenmack is a natural leader. He organizes the social media and handles the communication while Tungot is more of a quiet leader,” Red Raiders first year swim coach Bryan Sewall said.
Hackenmack competes in the distance events, the 200-meter freestyle and the 500-meter freestyle, while Tungot competes in the breast stroke.
“My best friends in the whole world are on the swim team,” Hackenmack said. “I am forever grateful for Sewall for stepping in to coach us this year.”
Hackenmack has been a swimmer for about 10 years, and may try out for his college team next season at Ball State University.
Sewall, who has coached an area club team as well, is pleased with the Red Raiders’ season.
“For me, it’s more about the improvement, and I’ve seen improvement from everyone,” the coach commented. “I think we’ve matched up pretty well.”
The season is winding down, there is one more meet ahead of the Fox Valley Conference Invitational at Woodstock North Feb. 10.
