Red Raiders race past CLC for loop win
HUNTLEY — Huntley’s girls basketball team kept its run of 60-point plus games going, as it reached four with a 69-41 Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake Central Dec. 13.
The onslaught of offense slowed down somewhat the next day against Hersey, but the Red Raiders took a 10-0 record into Christmas break with a 48-19 victory.

Three players tallied in double figures as Anna Campanelli led with 18 points, while April Strzelecki was close behind at 16 points and Ava McFadden swished 10 points. For Strzelecki, it was her second 16-points game in the last three contests.
“We were able to extend the lead on them in the second quarter,” Red Raiders coach Steve Raethz said. “We have several players who can step up and contribute at any time.”
CLC led 10-9 after eight minutes and 14-10 early in the second quarter before Huntley took control. A 29-point second quarter led the way, as McFadden’s two 3-pointers ended the first half run. It was a 44-21 run by the end of the third quarter for the visitors. Huntley went home with a 4-0 FVC record and continues to lead the conference.
In addition to the top three scorers, the Red Raiders received solid games from Mia Garlin and Aubrina Adamek, with seven points each.
“Adamek is a two-year starter for us. She is a heady player who has done a nice job at both ends of the floor,” Raethz said.
Hustle is a common skill for the entire team, as defense always sets the tone.
“The main thing is to guard your person so there are not any gaps,” Adamek said.
Adamek is a multi-sports player at HHS as she is a shortstop on the softball squad.

Strzelecki led the way with 18 points, as she made two three-pointers and had hoops off steals and fast-breaks as well in the 48-19 romp.
Campanelli added 10 points. Lana Hobday and McFadden each had six points.
The Red Raiders next play at the Dundee-Crown tournament Dec. 26.
