May is National Mental Health Awareness Month.  My Huntley News interviewed two geriatric specialists for a look at where seniors have been and where they as a group are headed for their mental fitness.

Dr. Michael Raida is a psychiatrist and Sue Schultz is a nurse manager. Both work for Independence Health & Therapy at 2028 N.

However, gardeners should take caution with an invasive species of worm “wriggling across the Midwest,” according to a University of Illinois Extension program press release. The worms are known by many names including Alabama jumpers, crazy worms or snake worms, but around these areas, are more commonly referred to as jumping worms.

Additionally, the website states that the outcome of the survey are of specific interest to health care purchasers and consumers, as well as cover a broad range of hospital processes, outcomes and structures in many clinical areas such as maternity and intensive care.

Through her dedication to see the not-for-profit group prosper, Jett became the executive director of End a Child’s Hunger. Working with a team of volunteers, Jett not only assists those needing meals, but provides further resources through other initiatives.

End a Child’s Hunger is hosting its first ever Bike Brigade this year, with Jett explaining that she began expanding her not-for-profit efforts to the Huntley area, three years ago.

At the time, MCDH public health administrator Melissa Adamson stated that the health department was apologetic for the inconvenience, but was appreciative of everyone’s patience and cooperation.

Despite some minor setbacks, McHenry County residents have shown their support to MCDH staff and volunteers for all the effort that has been put into the ongoing clinics in the area.

“It’s huge. I mean it’s huge for us because we were closed for a while. We needed to get somethings done…But the way we did this, it’s the right way to do it. So, moving everything in here, it takes some time getting each and every element that you want to have done the proper way and getting to this point.

The Board of Directors, in a 4 to 3 vote at the March 24th Board meeting, decided to not renew the polling place agreement with the Kane County Board of Elections.

She went further into detail regarding how in light of more people being vaccinated against COVID-19, attention from blood drives have shifted away.

The new business simply named RISE, with its covered windows and security personnel standing near the entryway, would give no indication from outer appearances alone, into what it is this business specializes in. While RISE may be new to the McHenry County area, it’s no stranger to the adult use cannabis industry, as it operates medical and recreational dispensaries in seven different states.

Continuing with the circular theme, the children’s room features a colorful motif. It will be filled with low shelving, making media in reach of the library’s kid patrons. With its curved walls, circular themes, and colorful interior, the children’s room will be a showpiece of the new library.

The new building that will be opening to the public on April 26, added an additional 17,000 square feet to the already existing 15,000 square feet.

With a total of 10 candidates running this year, My Huntley News reached out to each candidate to get insight on questions ranging from their stances on student achievement to major issues that need to be addressed in the school district.

Dr. Kumar Nathan Kumar, president of Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, said the Magnet recognition is a reflection of a solid commitment to each patient.

“Our nurses collaborate with other members of our health care team to create personalized care plans that are unique to every individual,” Kumar said.

The two women for this year’s Huntley area recognition chosen by MyHuntleyNews.com are Betty Zirk and Lynne Sell.

On May 18, the Cougars will begin a three-game homestand against the Chicago Dogs.  The announcement of the first home game of 2021 brings back the reality of Cougars baseball and offers another activity in helping us return to normalcy.

The Kane County Cougars have not played a game since September 2019.
