Woodstock man charged with allegations of sexual assault of a juvenile family member
WOODSTOCK — On July 2, the Woodstock Police Department was dispatched to Northwestern Woodstock Hospital located at 3701 Doty Road for a report of an alleged criminal sexual assault that had occurred to a juvenile by an adult relative in late June.
According to a press release statement, Woodstock Police detectives and a member of the McHenry County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) spoke with the juvenile and a parent while at the hospital.
“Later in the day, a multidisciplinary team composed of members of the McHenry County CAC, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Woodstock Police Department convened at the CAC,” stated authorities via the press release. “A specially-trained forensic interviewer of the CAC interviewed the juvenile.”
Further investigation efforts revealed the suspect as being 34-year-old Alejandro J. Barradas of Woodstock.
After determining the existence of probable cause and upon conferring with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, a warrant was obtained for one count of criminal sexual assault of a family member under the age of 18, a Class 1 felony.
Barradas was placed into custody and transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility for the criminal sexual assault charge.
As of July 6, Barradas remains in custody at the McHenry County Jail with a bail amount set to $500,000, however, only 10% ($50,000) is needed to apply for bond.
Barradas is scheduled to appear in court again on July 27 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 304 of the McHenry County Courthouse.
This case remains under investigation by the Woodstock Police Department. No further information will be released to the public due to the involvement of the juvenile victim.
