Boys bowlers win tourney, top Matengo
HUNTLEY – Fresh off a perfect 300 game by Nicholas Gaspari, the Huntley boys bowling team went back to work at Andrew High School’s big Dec. 9 tournament in Tinley Park. Huntley came home with the first-place honors.
A trio of bowlers finished in the top 10 to lead the way to the Andrew tournament title for the Red Raiders.
“We won the tournament with a total of 6,392,” Huntley coach Jacob Wagner said. “Matthew Fishman finished fourth, Noah Waters seventh, and Joey Humphrey 10th. We threw it great all day and led from the start coming out hot with an 1108. We finished the morning with a team high total of 1,247, ending the morning session with a 3,331 total. The boys continue to rally together and grind out the tough afternoons.”
Red Raiders beat Marengo
Huntley downed Marengo, 3,346 to 3,165 pins Dec. 11 in a KRV-FVC alliance match-up at Glo-Bowl Fun Center. Huntley gained seven alliance points to two for the Indians. Fishman led the way with a high game of 246 in a 685 series; Austin Tenglin was next with a 556 series; Humphrey had a 542; Waters rolled a 540 and Landen Conforti had a 507.
Wagner commented on the victory.
“The lanes got hard fast and we grinded them out in a tight win,” Wagner said. “A lot of Huntley guys bowl with the Marengo guys in league outside of high school, so it is always fun to watch them interact and compete. Sometimes you’ve got to make the spares count and do everything you can to string the strikes. Overall its always a good time bowling Marengo. They run an awesome program and have some excellent talent.”
